Volleyball took place this weekend in Brandon where the Bobcats played their 11th and 12th exhibition games of the season. This is the teams first games of the new year, but while the women had a month long break the men had a tournament in Waterloo on December 29th-31st.

The New Zealand import is a vital piece to the Bobcats arsenal as he is leading his team with 144 kills, absolutely dominating his position. The high-flying all-star recently surpassed 1000 career kills and was recognized by CTV Winnipeg as its Sports Star of the Week.

Two fundraising events are planned to support former Bobcat and Men’s Basketball assistant coach Donovan Gayle’s ongoing battle with acute myeloid leukemia. The 32-year-old, Jamaican-born, Scarborough, Ontario native was first diagnosed after a visit to the hospital on June 9th, 2013 and has since finished two rounds of chemotherapy.

Bobcats never sleep, at least not the Bobcats at Brandon University. After the volleyball season came to a close with the acquisition of a spectacular national title for the first time since the formation of BU’s volleyball program nearly a decade ago, former left side junior Craig Lowe coached Brandon Volleyball Club 16U to success in their division at the 2013 16U Canadian West Open in Calgary, Alberta from May 18th to 20th.

Kicking off the month of February, the Brandon Bobcats faced the University of British Columbia over the weekend. Ranked first in the women’s league, UBC extended their winning streak to 18 matches, achieving a three set (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) victory Saturday night.
