The Brandon Bobcats sought to replicate their Friday night win over UBC on Saturday, but were unsuccessful. The Thunderbirds defeated the Bobcats in four sets (25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25) on Saturday.
“It was up and down,” said left-side Craig Lowe. “[UBC] just played better after twenty.”
Thunderbird Jarrid Ireland had 15 kills and Ben Chow managed 13, while David Zeyha picked up 11.
Brandon’s Sam Tuivai dominated, extending his league lead in kills by adding 26 Saturday night. Brendan White completed seven blocks, and MVP Garrett Popplestone had a match-high 47 assists in addition to five blocks.
Falling to 11-9, Bobcats lose their chance of hosting a first-round playoff series, while UBC’s record of 13-7 improves their chances.
Guaranteed a playoff spot, the Bobcats travel to play the UBCO Heat next weekend to end the 2012-2013 Canada West regular season.
