Women’s volleyball team folds against UBC

Kicking off the month of February, the Brandon Bobcats faced the University of British Columbia over the weekend. Ranked first in the women’s league, UBC extended their winning streak to 18 matches, achieving a three set (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) victory Saturday night.

UBC’s Shanice Marcelle finished with an impressive 15 kills on 31 swings (0.452 hitting percentage), and Lisa Barclay and Rosie Schlagintweit had 10 and 8 kills, respectively.

Leading the Bobcats was freshman and left-side hitter Shanlee McLennan, who racked up 10 kills and 6 digs.

With an 8-12 loss, the ‘Cats will have their work cut out for them as they travel to Kelowna next weekend.
