Microwave Vs Oven: Brownies Part 1

Are you a fan of Nutella? Do you want brownies right now, and not in 30+ minutes? Then your best option is probably to try out this easy, and relatively quick, microwave brownie recipe. I modified this recipe from Kirbie’s Cravings.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Nutella
  • 1 egg (lightly whisked)
  • 4 Tbsp flour

Technically the recipe makes two servings, but go ahead and treat yourself and just make it into one serving by putting it into either a really big mug (like 16oz or bigger) or a deep soup bowl. You can often find novelty mugs that are large enough for this purpose at any of the dollar stores.

Your first step to this recipe is to put everything into your giant mug (or bowl) and mix. It’s going to take some elbow grease, but make sure you mix it together really well so that your brownie doesn’t have random chunks of cooked egg or flour.

Once you have everything mixed together just throw it in the microwave for about a minute and a half. I thought that the batter still looked really wet at this point, so I stirred it and put it back for another minute.

When your brownie is finished cooking you’re going to want to let it sit for a couple of minutes because it will be really hot, and because you want it to get that nice, gooey texture. When you feel that the brownie is good to go, go ahead and grab a fork and dig in. If you happen to have some ice cream in your freezer, that would compliment this snack nicely. But all by itself? This brownie definitely holds up as a quick, easy, low budget snack with minimal cleanup.
