This year the Bobcats soccer team won their first ever league championship! Not only that but the Women beat out the long reigning champs Red River College. The Bobcats beat back the Rebels 3-1 in their big final battle for leadership in the league.

The coach for the women’s soccer team Rainer Schira put in a lot of “leg work” for the women and has been coaching and steadily building up Brandon’s soccer program since their first season. He has kept his team on track and has pretty much impressed us and wowed the opposing team’s for the past 3 years. Schira lead his team to victory against every team in the leagueand for his efforts has won coach of the year. This is history being written and itis impressive to see the athletes and coaches from Brandon being recognized for their hard work.

The women’s soccer team had only one loss and two ties throughout their regular season. In futsal they have been having a far rougher time however.  The women won four, lost five, and tied twice. Still, their futsal results do not take away from their massive achievements and overwhelming victories in the soccer 2016-2017 season. Congratulations on all your hard work Rainer, best of luck with your next season! Continue to give us at BU something to be proud about.
