The Assiniboine Community College Cougars volleyball and hockey teams had a busy weekend, and had a mostly good outcome.
The men’s and women’s volleyball teams hosted the Red River College Rebels on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th. The women started out strong, taking their first two sets on Friday night 25-18 and 25-22 respectively, but the Rebels bounced back, taking the next two sets 20-25 and 21-25, leading into a fifth set. The Cougars came out victorious with a score of 15-9 to win the match.
The women’s Cougars fought hard on Saturday to continue their winning streak, but the Rebels were there for revenge. The Cougars lost in three sets, with scores of 11-25, 15-25, and 19-25 respectively.
The men on the other hand had a slower start on Friday night. It was a back and forth night, with the Cougars losing the first set to the Rebels, but coming back to win the second set. The Rebels took the third set, while the Cougars snatched the fourth. The Cougars ultimately won the match after the fifth set. The scores for the match were 12-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, and 16-14 respectively.
On Saturday, the men’s Cougars were in it to win. They won three out of four sets to ultimately take the match. The scores for the match were 25-17, 24-26, 25-18, and 25-19 respectively, and the Cougars swept the Rebels.
The Cougars volleyball teams will next be playing in Otterburne, MB on Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th against the Providence University College Pilots.
The Cougars hockey team was playing in International Falls, Minnesota this weekend against Rainy River Community College. It was a wildly successful weekend for the Cougars, winning their Saturday game 12-0 and their Sunday game 11-0.
