BU’s men’s volleyball team hosted a pre-season tournament at the Healthy Living Centre last weekend for a pre-season warm-up including teams from Montreal, Regina, Sherbooke, and Winnipeg. Player Matt Powell says this tournament is about getting into the right mindset for game situations:
“We want to find a way to gel together and work out any kinds” he adds, “We are ready to step out on the floor and get the job done”.
The Bobcats took the win on September 29th against Université de Sherbrooke and University of Winnipeg Wesmen, 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. The team took the win on September 30th against the Regina Cougars with a score of 3-1, and again on October 1st against Sherbrook with 3-0. The regular season starts with an away game on October 20th against the University of Manitoba Bisons and the first home game is October 27th against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
The women’s volleyball team lost to University of Toronto’s Varsity Blues with a close score of 2-3 on September 29th, but managed a victory against Acadia University’s Axewomen. The weekend came with some tough losses against the University of Winnipeg Weswomen and the Varsity Blues for scores of 2-3 and 0-3 respectively.
The women’s basketball team travelled to Edmonton and fought the MacEwan Griffins for a close final score of 61-63 on September 29th, and a win the next day at 66 to 60.
Continuing with away games, the Bobcats will play the UBC Thunderbirds on October 3rd, and the Fraser Valley Cascades on October 6th.
