Bobcats Have Busy Holiday Weekend

Volleyball and basketball took place this week for our Bobcats teams as they competed across western Canada.

The men’s volleyball team played in a tournament out in Regina, Saskatchewan, women’s basketball was all the way in Abbotsford, British Columbia, and men’s basketball took place at home in Brandon.

The men’s volleyball team had a really strong weekend as they played four games and won three of them. Even in the match that they lost, the Bobcats fought on towards the bitter end, pushing the match all the way to the 5th set. The men won 11 of their sets and smashed their way to face the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in their final game. Every match was super close, and the men had some great games.

The women’s basketball team had a mixed bag with a loss and a win this past weekend. Their game Thursday , October 5th ended in a 20-point difference loss to the UBC Thunderbirds. The Bobcats fought for the entire game, but were never able to catch up after losing out on the first quarter 10-28. The match on Friday, October 6th resulted in a 7 point win for the Bobcats as they beat the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades. The women started out lagging in the first half by 11 points, but quickly caught up for the victory by the last quarter to win the game.

The men’s basketball team also had a solid performance over the Thanksgiving weekend. The men’s game on Thursday, October 5th resulted in a loss but the Sunday game ended in a victory. The men played against Laurentian University Voyageurs and the Algoma University Thunderbirds. The men’s team lost their match 79-92 and won their match 97-84.
