Every year The Quill rehires for all of our positions. The positions that you can apply for are listed below with a brief explanation of the job expectations. If there is a position missing that you are interested in, please contact us at eic@thequill.ca, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Reporter/Senior Reporter: Attend events on campus, take photos, and write stories as assigned.
Copy Editor: Ensure that articles contain correct spelling and grammar. Advise the Editor-in-Chief of awkward sections, and how they could be improved without compromising the story integrity.
Web Content Coordinator: Upload the published articles and online ads to The Quill’s website weekly. Manage and keep track of all online exclusive content.
Assistant Editor-in-Chief: Assist the Editor-in-Chief in running content meetings and assembling the paper.
Editor-in-Chief: Run content meetings, assist the General Manager with advertising, manage employees, assemble the paper, and ensure there is enough content for publication.
Resumes for positions may be sent to eic@thequill.ca on or before April 14th, 2017. All staff are compensated in some form, either by a monthly salary, or by a tuition rebate, and all hired staff will be expected to submit content. Exceptional staff members are also eligible for scholarships at the recommendation of The Quill’s Board of Directors. Staff members are also sent to conferences to better their journalistic and writing ability. Conferences that were attended this past year were held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Fredericton, New Brunswick.
