Last Call For Applications!

The last year that I have been privileged to spend as the Editor of The Quill has been fantastic. I will unfortunately not be returning to this post in the fall, however I have sincerely enjoyed the work I have been able to do this year.

Some of the changes which we were able to make to better the student paper this year include the updating of our website to a more modern, user-friendly, design, as well as the updated layout of our printed paper which we debuted in September. Neither of these accomplishments, nor the production of a newspaper every week, would have been possible without the dedicated and fantastic people that I have been able to work with this year. Most of our staff were returning from previous years, but we were also fortunate to pick up a few new hands along the way.

As we say goodbye to another term, I would like to strongly recommend anyone interested in writing for The Quill to contact either myself, or any other current member of our staff. The benefits of working here have been limitless in my experience, and we would like to share these benefits with as many students as we possibly can. This is the last week to apply for any of our hired positions, for a term beginning in September. If you’re not currently sure where you will be or what you’ll be doing in the fall, then fear not. We are always looking for content creators, a position which is not hired but is similar to a volunteer position (though it is still compensated). We are happy to work around your schedule, and will help you to achieve your scholastic hopes.

Resumes for positions may be sent to eic@thequill.ca on or before April 14th, 2017. All staff are compensated in some form, either by a monthly salary, or by a tuition rebate, and all hired staff will be expected to submit content. Exceptional staff members are also eligible for scholarships at the recommendation of The Quill’s Board of Directors. Staff members are also sent to conferences to better their journalistic and writing ability. Conferences that were attended this past year were held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Fredericton, New Brunswick.
