There is a full lineup at The Evans this February. Kicking off the month is Manchester by the Sea starring Oscar nominated actor Casey Affleck, as well as Michelle Williams. Manchester by the Sea follows the tale of Lee Chandler as he discovers he has been named guardian of his 16-year old nephew.

Some of the perks of living in Residence here at Brandon University are the gratuitous opportunities to meet new friends and have fun trying new things. Many people come from different backgrounds, such as larger cities like Winnipeg, tiny villages like Binscarth, or from another country thousands of miles away. Making the adjustment can be really hard for some people, and in this writer’s opinion, the best cure for homesickness is adopting your new place as home

Community Mental Health Services

As part of last week’s Mental Health Week activities, a large selection of local mental health professionals set up tables in the Mingling Area on Thursday, January 19th. Among the Brandon University resources were the Healthy Living Centre as well as the BU counselling services, which each had a table.

Podcast Review: Hollywood and Crime

Hollywood and Crime is a brand-new true crime podcast from Wondery. Each season will investigate notorious true crimes and scandals from Hollywood. The first season began airing on January 6th and will cover the Black Dahlia Serial Killers, investigating the cases of eight women who were either brutally murdered or went missing in 1940’s Hollywood.

Mastering Your Masters: In Conversation with Carmen Miedema

Brandon University graduate and former Quill reporter Carmen Miedema is hard at work on her master’s degree at the University of Manitoba, where she received a $40,000 entrance scholarship. Miedema is working on an intense project that will see the transfer of archives from Canada’s residential schools to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
