Dear Stuck,

If this is the first time you’ve had problems with this person, have a calm discussion with them and ask if everything’s okay. That doesn’t sound like the case, though. You may need to sit down and have a frank discussion about the needs of the project and his responsibilities. Always ask yourself, “Why would a sane, rational person act like this?” That will help you see his motives.
